Toviaz Warnings and Precautions

Prior to starting treatment, the warnings and precautions for Toviaz should be discussed with your healthcare provider to help minimize risks. Since Toviaz can worsen certain medical conditions, you should tell your healthcare provider about all other conditions you have (such as glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, or digestive problems) before starting treatment. You should not take Toviaz if you have difficulty passing urine or narrow-angle glaucoma.

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider Before Taking Toviaz?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Toviaz™ (fesoterodine fumarate) if you have:
 
  • Liver disease, including liver failure, cirrhosis, or hepatitis
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure)
  • Glaucoma
  • Digestive problems (especially those than involve slow emptying of food from the stomach)
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • An enlarged prostate (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH)
  • Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
     
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
     
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
