Specific Sanctura XR Warnings and Precautions

Some of the warnings and precautions to be aware of prior to taking Sanctura XR include the following:
  • In rare cases, this medication can cause life-threatening swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. This can occur quickly, even after the first dose. Seek immediate medical attention if such swelling occurs.

  • You should not take Sanctura XR if you have severe kidney disease. Also, it is not known if Sanctura XR is safe for people with mild or moderate kidney disease.
  • Sanctura XR can cause blurred vision, dizziness, and drowsiness. Be sure to see how Sanctura XR affects you before driving a car or operating heavy machinery.
  • Sanctura XR can slow down the digestive system. This can cause problems, especially for people who already have a slow digestive system due to myasthenia gravis, ulcerative colitis, or other problems.
  • This medication can make glaucoma worse. If you have glaucoma and take Sanctura XR, your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely.
  • Sanctura XR may potentially interact with a number of other medications (see Sanctura XR Drug Interactions).
  • Sanctura XR is considered a pregnancy Category C medication. This means that it may not be safe for use during pregnancy, although the full risks are not known (see Sanctura XR and Pregnancy).
  • It is not known whether Sanctura XR passes through breast milk. Therefore, if you are breastfeeding or plan to start breastfeeding, discuss this with your healthcare provider prior to taking the drug (see Sanctura XR and Breastfeeding).
