Sanctura XR Side Effects

A dry mouth, constipation, and bladder infections are among the most common side effects of Sanctura XR. Side effects that occur less often (in 1 to 2 percent of people taking the drug) include indigestion, nausea, and gas. You should contact your healthcare provider immediately if you develop more serious Sanctura XR side effects, such as severe constipation, difficulty passing urine, or signs of an allergic reaction.

An Introduction to Sanctura XR Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Sanctura® XR (trospium XR). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Possible Sanctura XR Side Effects

Sanctura XR has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occur in a group of people taking the drug are documented and then compared to the side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the medicine. As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

Other common Sanctura XR side effects, occurring in 1 to 2 percent of people, included:
 
  • Dry eyes
  • Gas
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • A swollen or bloated abdomen
  • Nasal dryness.
