Sanctura XR Overdose: An Introduction
Sanctura® XR (
trospium XR) is a prescription medication used to treat an
overactive bladder.
Sanctura XR is known as an anticholinergic medication. The effects of a Sanctura XR overdose can vary depending on a number of factors, such as the
Sanctura XR dosage and whether it was taken with alcohol, other medicines, or street drugs.
If you happen to overdose on Sanctura XR, seek immediate medical attention.
Symptoms of a Sanctura XR Overdose
Because it is an anticholinergic medication, Sanctura XR is prone to causing a certain group of side effects (known as anticholinergic side effects). These side effects may be more severe if too much Sanctura XR is taken. These side effects can include:
- Blurred vision
- Severe constipation
- Dry mouth or eyes
- Difficulty passing urine
- Dilated (wide open) pupils
- Increased pressure within the eyes.
Treatment for a Sanctura XR Overdose
It is not known how best to treat a Sanctura XR overdose. If the Sanctura XR overdose was recent, the healthcare provider may administer certain medicines or place a tube into the stomach to "pump the stomach." Treatment may also involve supportive care, which consists of treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose. For instance, if an overdose caused severe constipation, then supportive treatment would include administering certain medications to relieve the constipation.
In all cases of a Sanctura XR overdose, it is recommended that the heart be closely monitored.
It is important that you seek prompt medical attention if you believe that you may have overdosed on Sanctura XR.
