Ditropan XL Uses

How Does Ditropan XL Work?

Ditropan XL belongs to a group of medications known as anticholinergics or antimuscarinics. It works by binding to specific receptors (called muscarinic receptors) in the bladder, helping to relax the muscles of the bladder. Since an overactive bladder is often due to bladder muscle contractions that are too frequent and uncontrollable, Ditropan XL can help relieve many of the symptoms of an overactive bladder.

Ditropan XL Use in Children

Ditropan XL is approved to treat an overactive bladder due to neurological disorders in children as young as six years old. Talk to your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using Ditropan XL in children. Since Ditropan XL tablets cannot be crushed or chewed, a child must be able to swallow tablets whole in order to take Ditropan XL.

Off-Label Ditropan XL Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Ditropan XL for something other than an overactive bladder. At this time, there are no universally accepted Ditropan XL off-label uses.
